Congratulation to our 2 newest Eagles! Desmon Camacho and Sean Kim.

Desmon Camacho
Desmon started his scouting career as a Webelo in Pack 95 and joined Troop 184 after earning his Arrow of Light in the fifth grade. Desmon has held several leadership positions in the Troop including Patrol Leader, Lower Rank Advisor, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader.
Desmon's Brick Pavers Eagle Scout Project was conducted on December 11th 2021. It took place outside the Senior Residence at St. Peter the Apostle by the flagpole. The project included creating a safe and usable brick payer walkway from the back entrance of the residence to the flagpole approximately twenty-five feet away from the sidewalk. This was done so that the seniors could show respect and pledge allegiance to the flag daily and on holidays like Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Select bricks even included names of donors who graciously contributed to the project. In order to construct the pathway, scouts had to dig seven inches down along the entire walkway, lay crushed stone inside the ditch, lay a bed of sand on top of the stone, insert 342 bricks onto the sand, and finally hose down the path to ensure the sand solidified.
During his time in Troop 184, Desmon has learned many lessons which he has applied to real life. Achieving the Eagle Scout Rank has taught Desmon the dedication to worthy causes and allowed him to create working relationships with others. Being a part of Boy Scouts has allowed Desmon to form lifelong friendships.
Desmon is a senior at River Dell Regional High School in Oradell, where he is on the Principal's List. He is involved with the TV Department and currently takes Advanced Media Project where he films and produces videos for the school YouTube web series; “This Week at River Dell.” Desmon will be attending Kean University in Union, New Jersey this upcoming fall.

Sean Kim
Sean Kim is a junior at River Dell High School. He started his scouting career as a Tiger Scout in Pack 229 when he was the first grade. He joined Troop 184 after he earned the Arrow of Light in the fifth grade. Sean has had several leadership positions in the troop including Patrol Leader, Lower-Rank Advancement Coordinator, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He has earned thirty-one merit badges qualifying him as a Gold Palm Award recipient.
At River Dell High School, Sean is a baseball player on the varsity team. He started playing baseball in first grade, and he has so much passion for playing team sports. Covid-19 had suspended all spring sports his freshman year, but it led him to practice more on his own and made him become a steady ball player after all. He was also on the winter track team for past two seasons. Not only has he been an athlete in the school, but he also been plays trombone in the River Dell Concert Band. In addition, he is a member of National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Environmental Club, and Computer Science Club.
Outside of school, Sean is involved with many community activities; volunteering as a math and English tutor for young students, and president of the baseball clinic formed by several baseball players to raise money to help local charities. He also worked as a camp counselor in the River Edge Recreation Summer Program.
Sean envisioned that his Eagle Scout Service Project would benefit a local organization. His project took a place in the playground area at Grace Lutheran Church in River Edge. He built and painted two picnic tables and a balance beam from scratch to benefit preschoolers and church members. Sean received a tremendous amount of help from family, friends and scouts from Troop 184 to put this project together and help the community. He felt rewarded by seeing the little children using them as he passes by there every day.
During his scouting journey, Sean has learned many important life skills including leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. Sean is very grateful for his past eleven years in scouting, and is honored to be an Eagle Scout of Troop 184.
