This is the End... of Week 1
Hello again!
This week has been very active, between the merit badge classes, cooking three meals a day, participating in camp activities and just enjoying some free time. The scouts are wrapping up their classes today, no doubt looking forward to taking some more classes next week.
Yesterday, some scouts walked across the monkey bridge in the lake. For some, it was their first time, while others have gone before. A couple of scouts were pros at it, walking across with ease, while others were more careful with their footwork. I am proud to say that no one fell off into the lake! Woo! Good job guys!
A new troop activity this year is fishing in the lake. Really, it's always been an option but none of the adult leaders were avid anglers, so there was no one to promote and then go fishing. Fortunately for us, Mr. Koen enjoys fishing a lot, and brought his own rod with him to take advantage of some quiet time casting away. Some scouts came with him on Tuesday, borrowing equipment from the camp. Everyone who went had a very enjoyable time.
Tomorrow, our first week of camp ends and we head out to get a nice break. We will say goodbye to a couple of one-week scouts and welcome in another. We'll also say goodbye to some adult leaders and welcome in some new ones who, I'm sure, are pumped and ready to go camping!
Scouts are looking forward to calling home tomorrow to hear about what's going on there. Everyone should expect a phone call between 2:00pm-4:00pm. Be prepared to hear answers to all your camp questions with excellent responses such as "uh huh," "good", "fine" and "nothing much". 😀
I will post another newsletter update early next week. Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Ken
