Mid-Week! Halfway done (with the first week)!
Hello again Troop 184 Families,
We've made it to Wednesday and we're over the hump for the first week. Scouts are learning and accomplishing great things in their merit badge classes. Swimmers are swimming, woodcarvers are carving wood, plumbers are plumbing, and so on. Tonight, the scouts in the Wilderness Survival class will be going on their overnight trip to the woods, where they'll sleep in a shelter of their own making.
We said goodbye to Mr. Lin and hello to Mr. Stoltz as they switched off adult leadership coverage today. We thank them both and all the adult leaders who have or will be spending some time overseeing camp so that the scouts can have the best summer camp experience that they can.
It rained a lot Monday afternoon through Tuesday. It was a good test of the scouts perseverance in unfavorable conditions. I'm happy to report that all came out unscathed. Everyone kept up good spirits and worked together to cook meals under the protection of the tarps, when the sheepherders weren't practical. To be honest, the food has been pretty decent. There are good portion sizes and good supplies for experimentation. All in all, there aren't very many complaints with the food. A sign of a good summer camp.
That's it for now. We'll continue posting pictures in the Photo Gallery. Check back often to see what's new.
Cheers, Ken
