How About a Nice Game of Chess?

Writer's picture: Kenneth NebenKenneth Neben

Hello Troop 184 Families!

A lot of our scouts play chess, and many have even earned the Chess merit badge.

Did you know that the Patriots' Path Council here in New Jersey (Camp Winnebago is owned by them) hosts on online Chess Club?

The Chess Club is free to join and open to all scouting ages.

Tournaments are typically held on the fourth Saturday of the month at 9 am. They use the Chesskid website, under the basic "free" membership plan.

  • This will be an unrated tournament with a max time of 20 minutes per game with three to five rounds.

Plus, a nice article about the Chess Club in Scouting Magazine:

We definitely have some talented chess players in the troop. It would be great to show off their chess moves.

Yours in Scouting, Ken Neben
